International links between Russia and the Western Isles are highlighted next month as ten ballet dancers from the Moscow State Ballet – including five international award winners – are heading to Stornoway.
Performing at An Lanntair at the beginning of December, the local arts centre has secured this very special event as part of their ongoing relationship with the Moscow Caledonian Society.
An Lanntair Programmer, Alex Macdonald, explained: “This will be our second event this year in conjunction with our friends in Moscow, this first of which was of course the visit by Bolshoi opera singer Oksana Lesnichaya. “As the ballet company’s time in the UK is limited and there is of course high demand from larger venues, we are particularly pleased that they have opted to visit the Islands.”
The company, who are visiting Scotland to take part in a large festival in Aberdeen, will be in the Isle of Skye on Saturday, December 7th; and An Lanntair, Stornoway, on Monday, December 9th, for these very special performances.
The world-class dancers will showcase a variety of classical ballet pieces and tickets are on sale now from An Lanntair, priced £20.
