Western Isles MSP, Alasdair Allan, last night helped out with the community recycling project in Tolsta Chaolais, Lewis.
The Isles’ politician commented: “I spent a great evening with the group in Tolsta Chaolais who are collecting and recycling paper, cans, bottles and plastic from around their village.
“This scheme, which operates every week, not only minimises waste going to landfill but brings the community together and provides a useful services for local residents.
“This is a great scheme, which operates on a voluntary basis, and one which I am sure could work well in many other parts of the islands as well.”
