The Western Isles new freight ferry, the MV Clipper Ranger, arrived in Stornoway at 7.30pm last night.

The MV Clipper Ranger will take over the Stornoway-Ullapool freight service from the MV Muirneag; and the crew of the MV Muirneag will be redeployed throughout the CalMac fleet as MV Clipper Ranger.

On arrival the vessel undertook docking trials at No.3 Pier in Stornoway port.

Commenting on the ferry’s arrival, a CalMac spokesman said: “Berthing trials have been successfully completed in Ullapool and Stornoway and we are making final preparations for her coming into service at the weekend.”
