MV Isle of Lewis set sail for Ullapool this morning (Thursday 5th July) at 7.00am, just 10 minutes later than secluded, after overnight repair work.
Sailing looks set to be back to normal today after problems with a cylinder head gas leak. In a effort to minimise disruption to further sailing the work was carried out through the night.
Yesterday (Wednesday 4th July) saw a disrupted service due to the second fault of the week, which was the result of the previous repair work.
A CalMac spokesman said: “We are continuing to work with the engine manufacturer and other specialists to establish what the cause of these problems is. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
He described this latest problem as “less serious” than the cracked piston than led to Tuesday’s breakdown, but said it could not “be left to go unchecked.”
