It is being reported that the MV Sulliven has sunk off Suva Harbour in Fiji on Monday (yesterday)
It is believed there were 27 crew members and four passengers on board, who have all been rescued.
Reports suggest the vessel was sailing into Suva from the North when it started listing and afterwards the vessel started sinking – within an hour, the Sulliven was completely underwater.
Tug boats from the Wharf, and the Navy were dispatched to the site.
The vessel will be well remembered by many in the Western Isles as she operated the route betweeen Stornoway to Ullapool for many years.
Since her ‘retirement’ from that role many islanders took the opportunity on their travels to visit the vessel on her new route in the South West Pacific.
