The second annual Ness Gala Day at Ness Football Pitch proved popular with a bumper crowd on Saturday, thanks to good weather and the addition of a number of new attractions.
Highlights of the event, which was raising funds for Ness Football Club and Ness FC Social Club, were Highland Dancing and Kick Boxing displays; an auction of goods donated by local businesses; a display by the Coastguard Helicopter and games and activities for all ages.
There was also a number of stalls organised and run by local community groups, allowing them to raise funds for their own causes.
Organiser Maggie Mackay said that the Gala Day Committee was hoping to improve on the impressive £2000 made at the previous year’s Gala Day.
“As well as pitch and clubhouse improvements, some of the money raised last year was spent on extra equipment for this year’s Gala Day, enabling us to put on more attractions and hopefully attract more people to the event,” she said.
“We would also like to thank the 40 to 50 volunteers that were here setting up on Friday night and Saturday morning, who have made this event possible”.
