Comhairle nan Eilean Siar have welcomed the news that Comunn Eachdraidh Nis, the Ness Historical Trust, have just been officially ‘Accredited’ by the Museums, Archives and Archives Council (MLA).
The MLA’s Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for museums in the UK. Comunn Eachdraidh Nis ‘s Museum’s award proves that it measures up, meeting the guidelines on how it is run, how to looks after its collections and the services it provides to its visitors.
Convenor of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Alex MacDonald said: “This is indeed excellent news for Comunn Eachdraidh Nis. They have done a huge amount of work since their establishment thirty years ago. I would like to pay tribute to each individual who has been involved in Comunn Eachdraidh Nis over the years and I would like especially like to congratulate the current Board for the huge amount of work they have done to receive this accreditation”.
