Mums and toddlers at Barra Children’s Centre (BCC) are enjoying new play equipment thanks to funding from the People’s Postcode Trust.

Barra Children’s Centre has received a funding boost for their Little Adventurer play sessions thanks to players of a charity lottery.

BCC were awarded £2,764 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Abigail Treffry, Barra Children’s Centre’s Development Manager, said: “We were delighted to receive the funding in 2014 to deliver our under 5’s active play sessions for one year.

The weather here can keep young children indoors for a large part of the year so opportunities for young children to have fun whilst keeping active are really important: outdoors as much as possible, and indoors when they can’t get out.

“Support from the People’s Postcode Trust helped us to employ a playleader to facilitate sessions and to purchase new toys and outdoor play equipment including bikes and trikes, a water play feature, outdoor xylophone and reclaimed tyre sandpit.

“Because of our small population, we’re not able to run sessions like this without support from funders.”
