Two lambs made a surprise visit in Leverburgh on Hogmanay, narrowly missing out on the title ‘First Lambs of the year’.
The twin Suffolks, belonging to MacKenzie, Glen, Leverburgh, were born unexpectedly on the 31st of December.
They were followed swiftly by another lamb on the same croft who waited until 2014 to make his appearance.
Heather MacKenzie explained: “We had a single lamb born shortly after the bells but the twins were born on Hogmanay.
“Both sheep lambing were unexpected, especially in this weather!”
Last year crofter Iain Macmillan of Maryhill, Isle of Lewis celebrated the arrival of the ‘First Lamb’ on New Year’s day.
His twin Textel cross lambs were born at 1am on January 1st, 2013.
