An open day will be held at Stornoway Ferry Terminal on November 11th to give information about the Ferry Infrastructure Project.

Stornoway Port Authority are taking forward the project to make changes to accommodate the new ferry.

The Port Authority wishes to point out that a recent media report on Hebrides News appeared without reference to the Port Authority and contains information about some ideas that had been consulted on and rejected, thereby giving a misleading account of what will be involved in the project.

Having completed consultations with key stakeholders, which included representatives of the Newton Residents Association, Local Hauliers, the Comhairle, Police and CalMac the Project is coming towards the end of the design phase and invitations to tender will be issued shortly to the five short-listed candidates for the construction works contract. During the design consultations a number of design options were considered. Having taken all the feedback into account a design has been selected to take forward.

It is proposed that an information day will be held when designs, including phased designs, will be available for everyone interested to come and get accurate information about the project and the actual proposals and how passengers will be impacted both during construction and once the new ferry is in operation.
