Eleven people were taken to Western Isles Hospital last night (Thursday) after a bus went off the road.

The bus, which was en route from Stornoway to Ness, is thought to have gone off the road at around 10pm.

No one was seriously hurt but all passengers and the driver were taken to hospital as a precaution. One person was kept in overnight for observation.

It is understood that the roads in the Western Isles were not gritted last night and gritters were last out on Tuesday night, although this was not for a full run.
