BACK at An Lanntair after a three year break is Paris-based pianist Ivan Ilicć, who this weekend entertains the island audience with a brand new classical programme.
No stranger to the Western Isles having performed annually in the Stornoway arts centre from 2006 to 2009, as well as tutoring island pupils through various workshops, Ivan eagerly anticipates his return.
Starting his musical studies aged only six years old, Ivan gave his first début recital at 11 and earned degrees in music and mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley, before moving to Paris on a university fellowship where shortly afterwards he was admitted to the esteemed Conservatorie Supérieur de Paris.
Highlights in his illustrious career include recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Dublin’s National Concert Hall, the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, and the American Academy in Rome.
For an interview with Ivan Ilic see this week’s Stornoway Gazette, out Thursday 4th October.
