ALLEGATIONS of improper tendering processes at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are being investigated by the police.
Northern Constabulary confirmed that they were carrying out inquiries in regard to allegations of improper tendering processes and that part of the investigation would look at whether any criminal act had taken place.
The inquiries refer to the accountancy contract for the Comhairle’s arms-length body Sgoiltean Ura - which was formed to manage the schools building programme.
The Comhairle agreed an out of court settlement with one of the firms involved in the tendering process.
Staff at the Comhairle are believed to have been disciplined following the case.
A spokesperson for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar said: “The Comhairle is aware that Northern Constabulary are following up a complaint in connection with the tendering process on a Sgoiltean Ura contract. They are considering whether they have a locus in this matter.”
