A recent prize giving event took place at the West Side School for the Western Thistle Development Club with Derick Smith (who used to play in goals for West Side) giving out the prizes to the P1-3 group. And Murchadh Macdonald, (West Side Football Club Manager) gave out the prizes to the P4-7 group.

As usual, prizes were handed out for various categories like best attendance, best attitude, most improved player, king of the ring, and the much coveted poseur of the year trophies.

Special mention this year goes to Tam Maclennan who managed to amass an impressive total of 66 points in the P4-5 King of the Ring category.

Tam has actually won this trophy now in his age group for the last three years, which is a tremendous achievement as this game involves a lot of skill, quick feet and strength, with good awareness of what is going on around you.

The Development Club runs in conjunction with the school term with sessions held at the West Side School every Tuesday and Saturday.

The club is available to children of school age, and of all abilities from all over the island. Admission is only £1 per session. All children who attend are encouraged to take part in all the fun festivals held throughout the year.

The club would like to thank all the coaches and parents for their continued support. Special thanks also to Kenny John Macleod for taking the photos.
