Procurator Fiscal comments on Mackinnon and Millar’s life sentence

At the High Court in Edinburgh today (Friday) , Johnathan MacKinnon and Stefan Millar were both sentenced to life imprisonment with a punishment part of 18 years for the murder of Liam Aitchison on the Isle of Lewis on 22 November 2011.

MacKinnon and Millar, beat and stabbed Mr Aitchson then left him to die at a remote derelict house near Steinish, near Stornoway.

His body was discovered several days later.

Liam Murphy, Procurator Fiscal for the North of Scotland, said:

“The murder of Liam Aitchison, a 16-year-old boy, caused shock and concern in this small community of Lewis and across Scotland.

“Thankfully, murders in this part of the country are very rare.

“I hope that these murder convictions reassure those communities that when we do have such crimes, justice will be done.”
