One of Stornoway’s town centre hotels remains closed nine months after the last lease expired.

However owners Punch Taverns are confident it will be up and running again soon.

A spokesperson said this week: “We are currently in negotiations with interested operators.”

It is now almost a year since the Clachan Bar closed in the centre of Stornoway and has not re-opened.

Recent reports show the economy of the Highlands and Islands is improving and efforts are being made to aid tourism outlets.

Leading experts in tourism are taking part in a new series of free online discussions over the next few weeks as the highly successful Tourism Intelligence Scotland webinars return.

Organised by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the webinars bring together some of the best tourism businesses who will share their insights and give practical tips on how to capitalise on Scotland’s growth markets.

The first of four weekly live presentations starts on Wednesday 20th November. Each webinar starts at 9.30am and lasts for 45 minutes, with no transport required.
