Remembrance service and ceremony in Tarbert

The Armistice Day Service was held in the Church of Scotland, Tarbert on Saturday 8th November and with favourable weather conditions, was extremely well attended. The service was conducted by Rev Donald Angus MacLennan and Rev Andrew Coghill. Precentor was Calum MacKinnon.

Helping to organise the day was John Murdo Morrison, who said that the ceremony has grown over the last few year in the number of people attending and number of wreaths being laid.

After the service the congregation proceeded to the War Memorial to lay the wreaths, which were laid on behalf of the Western Isles Lieutenancy by Vice Lord Lieutenant—Donald Martin; Comhairle nan Eilean Siar by Councillor Catherine MacDonald; The Royal British Legion by George MacDiarmid; Lodge St. Clements – Harris by Donald J MacKay M.B.E.; The Scottish Parliament by; Northern Constabulary by Chief Inspector Gordon MacLeod; H & I Fire & Rescue (North Harris) by Cameron Morrison; Maritime Coastguard Agency by O.I.C. Robert MacKinnon; Leverburgh Lifeboat by Crew Member—Angus MacVicar; SWRI - Harris Branch by President (Retired) - Liz Struthers; North Harris Trust by Kenny MacKay; West Harris Trust by Neil MacDonald; South Harris Community Council by Chairman—Hamish Taylor; Scalpay Community Council
