Tickets for Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail (The Royal National Mòd), Scotland’s biggest Gaelic Cultural Festival have gone on sale. Now in its 122nd year, the event is the most important Gaelic language festival in Scotland and a signature event in the Highland Homecoming celebrations.
Tickets for events can be purchased from Eden Court Theatre box office with the exception of the final dance tickets which must be purchase at the Iron Works venue box office. An Comunn Gàidhealach members should buy direct from their Inverness office.
Organised by An Comunn Gàidhealach, one of the oldest and most respected national Gaelic organisations in the world, the nine day spectacular will take place from Friday 10th to Saturday 18th October in Inverness.
Featuring competitions and performances in Highland Dancing, Gaelic Music and Song, Sport, Literature and Drama, the Mòd will bring thousands of competitors and spectators from all corners of the globe to the Highland Capital.
John Morrison, chief executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach, said: “The Mod returns to Inverness for the first time in 17 years so it really will be a big Highland Homecoming. We’re delighted to announce tickets are now on sale, so fans of Gaelic culture and music can secure their place to join us at this year’s competitions and events.”
Competitions will be joined by a Fringe programme which will see over 70 event taking place across the city.
Starting with a torchlight procession through the town to Eden Court on the Friday, there is an abundance of entertainment planned for the week. There will be concerts featuring Skipinnish, Cruinn and Skerryvore (plus many more), street theatre, the Shinty Mod Cup, meet the author events, pub music nights, children’s disco, come & try sessions and a ceilidh - there really is something for everyone.
The Royal National Mòd is supported by Highland Council, HIE, Caledonian MacBrayne, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, EventScotland, the Royal Bank of Scotland, SQA, BBC ALBA, the Scottish Government, Homecoming Scotland 2014 and Royal Mail.
