The 2013 Point Agricultural Show faces an uncertain future as it was not possible to elect a planning committee for the coming year at the Society’s recent Annual General Meeting.
2012 saw the Point Show celebrate its tenth year with the biggest and best attended event in its history. The Agricultural Society goes forward into the new year in a strong financial position and has invested heavily in equipment and improvements in the showground at Aird.
The show continues to enjoy strong support in Point and across Lewis and Harris, however, due to a low attendance at the AGM in December, it was not possible to elect a committee and office bearers for the 2013 show.
An Extraordinary General Meeting will take place on Monday 28th January in Tiumpanhead Community Centre at 7.30pm where a committee must be elected to secure the future of the show. If a committee is not appointed at this meeting, it will be necessary to cancel this year’s event.
Organisers are urging the community to support the Point Agricultural Society by attending the EGM and help them to make the 2013 Point Show the best yet.
