The local Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses(FSB) showed their support for Small Business Saturday which was held throughout the country recently.
The FSB is urging customers to support local businesses as much as possible.
Local Chairperson Ali MacLennan said: “We hope everyone appreciates all the small businesses in our community and we would encourage everyone to shop local whenever possible.”
Supporting the event locally was Alasdair Allan, MSP who commented: “This year, as in previous years, there has been much hype around so-called Black Friday sales and big discounts from online retailers, often to the detriment of local shops. I fully support this initiative.”
Also showing his support was Comhairle leader Angus Campbell who said: “Small businesses are at the heart of our communities and are of upmost importance to our local economy and to revitalising our town centres.
I will continue showing my support for local retailers and I would also urge consumers throughout the Western Isles to continue supporting their local businesses.”
