Spell-binding storytelling in Balallan

A relaxed and entertaining evening of spell-binding storytelling and brilliant music is what’s on offer with a performance by Alexandria Patience and Donald MacNeill in The Old School Cafe, Balallan, on Friday (August 1st) at 7.30pm.

Presented by Arts Nan Eilean, Alex is a natural storyteller who allows the inner feel of the work to guide the telling. She tells some of the big traditional stories, but told from a woman’s point of view, and tops and tails heart tugging drama with a ‘bit o a laugh’ and an occasional song.

With extensive experience in theatre, fine and community arts, Alex has a great love of all things about the sea, the coastal and island communities and their lives with stories of the second sight, selkies, and connections made between traditional stories and contemporary lives.

Alex will be joined by Donald – a multi-instrumentalist creating original jazz to folk style music to texture Alex’s storylines.

Alex and Donald are brought to the islands by Arts Nan Eilean, part of the Rural Nations Theatre Company. Tickets by donation at the door. To find out more information, visit www.ruralnations.com
