Stag Bakeries Ltd has announced that it has begun exporting eight of its award winning products including the Stornoway Water Biscuit to China.

After many months of working on creating new relationships overseas the first order has been completed which has now left on an Air Freight to Shanghai.

This relationship creates new market opportunities in the Far East with the potential for this to grow in the future creating not only new jobs within the community but the business as a whole.

Owner Charles MacDonald said: “This is fantastic news for the local community to ensure longevity of jobs and the continued growth of Stag Bakeries.”

Stag Bakeries already has products in the USA and Ireland via wholesalers. Now, with China, Stag Bakeries has become a worldwide supplier which will help the company grow at a global level.

A statement from the company said the next thing on their agenda was to finalise talks with Australasia and the rest of Europe stating ‘a new chapter in the company history has started with this development providing jobs at this critical economic downturn.’
