On Saturday 10th November the Harris Football Club and the Tarbert Community Centre are hoping to raise some much-needed funds by putting on a Stars in Their Eyes spectacular at the Harris Hotel from 9.30pm.
Centre Manager Kate Langley said: “The Community Centre is facing continued financial challenges, not least with the spiralling costs of running the Centre, but also we are urgently in need of roof repairs to stop various leaks. In order to keep the Centre open and available for use by the Community, funds have to be raised throughout the year.”
Club Secretary Andy Morrison added: “The Harris Football Club always needs funds for such things as pitch hire for training, league and cup membership fees, costs for use of changing rooms, minibus hire, referees’ fees, players’ insurance, laundry fees, medical bag contents, footballs and other equipment.”
The audience who supported the last Stars in Their Eyes event in March were treated to performances by two wonderful Frank Sinatras, Jessie J (feat. BoB), Blondie, John Denver, Kate Bush, Elton John and Susan Boyle, as well as a surprise appearance by Britney and a fantastic finale by Bucks Fizz.
The show was such a success that it’s happening again - could you step up and have a go? Adam Johnson (JEL/Catch 22) will provide the backing tracks and microphones, performers just need to pick a song and get a costume organised.
The event costs £5 for spectators and is FREE for performers - scheduled to start at 9.30pm in Tigh mo Shenair at the Harris Hotel, there will also be a raffle, a bar, and prizes too!
Anyone wishing to enter should contact Andy Morrison on 01859 502154 or Kate Langley on 01859 502726 to make sure your song is available. You can also register your entry through the facebook page of the Harris Football Club or the Tarbert Community Centre. And if you’re a bit shy, why not enter as a group - could we see Tarbert’s own version of Take That or the Spice Girls? Organsiser are urging people to help them make this a night to remember, and help support two worthy local charities while you are entertained.
