Stornoway fishing boat towed to safety

A Stornoway-based fishing boat is being towed to safety after it began taking on water.

The crew of the Stornoway-registered Prevail raised the alarm at around 3am this morning (Thursday) when the vessel was about 31 miles east of Montrose.

The Coastguard at Aberdeen was alerted after the fishing boat’s emergency beacon was activated.

The Montrose lifeboat is now towing the boat back to the town.
