STORNOWAY Primary School Class 5 pupils put their creative caps on recently to display to the Pennies they have collected to donate to the Stornoway RNLI ‘One Million Pennies Appeal’.
The Primary 5 pupils enjoyed learning all about Stornoway RNLI and the life-saving charity through their class project last term.
The ‘One Million Pennies Appeal’ was launched by the Stornoway Ladies Lifeboat Guild in August 2012 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the island station.
The aim of collecting one million pennies will translate into £10,000 funds and a total of 144,640 pennies have already been donated, although the pupils of Stornoway Primary are still counting their fund-raising treasure chest!
Pennies for the Appeal can be dropped into the Stornoway RNLI Station and Shop, as well as Charles Macleod Butchers; WeeW; Robert Doigs Opticians; Hector Low Vets; Nicolsons Paper Shop; Uig Shop; Bernera Shop, and Swainbost Shop (Ness).
