STORNOWAY RNLI are making their way home after launching at 1.10pm today (Monday, May 21st) to the aid of a fishing vessel near Badcall Bay on Scotland’s west coast.
A report was received from the boat which had run aground and both Stornoway RNLI and the Coastguard helicopter set out to help.
Other fishing vessels in the area stood by to assist, but the stricken boat was able to re-float and the Stornoway RNLI lifesavers were called back.
The incident happened south of Handa island, near Scourie and Kinlochbervie; an area which is normally covered by Lochinver RNLI.
However the Lochinver lifeboat is currently sitting on the slipway at Goat Island, Stornoway, as it undergoes routine maintenance.
