Home Energy Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by Energy Saving Trust, is holding a free-to-attend technology showcase event for local householders at Stornoway Town Hall on Saturday 18th October from 10am until 2pm.

Locally-based Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certified installers will be on hand to speak to the public about solar, wind and heat technologies.

Organisations including Tighean Innse Gall (TIG), The Energy Advisory Service (TEAS), Home Energy Scotland and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES) will provide information stands on external and room in roof wall insulation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, Green Deal assessments, building warrants and planning.

On the day you can talk to advisors about renewables technologies and energy efficiency measures best suited to different properties and sites.

You can hear about savings and discuss any technical or planning issues, or arrange to find out about actual costs and savings from a Green Homes Network householder.

You can learn more about financial support available through local schemes and from the Scottish Government, including an interest free loan of up to £10,000 for renewables systems.

The event will provide details on financial assistance available for renewable and conventional heating systems, and income from Feed-in Tariffs and the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme.

You can also hear from accredited installers about their renewables systems and other energy efficiency options to help you save energy and money, and have a warmer home.

Donald Morrison, Home Energy and Partnership Liaison Officer at Home Energy Scotland, said:

“This event offers a good opportunity for householders interested in improving their property’s energy efficiency or installing renewables to find out more on what’s on offer in the Western Isles.

“Two years ago we held a similar event in Stornoway which proved to be highly successful.

“I would urge everyone who is interested in learning more to come along and discuss their heating requirements on Saturday 18th.”
