THE Alistair McCulloch Trio returns this summer with their 11th tour, showcasing one of the busiest and best-known fiddlers in Scotland – Alistair – combined with whistle wizard and former Capercaillie member Marc Duff and 2005 ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ and Old Blind Dogs member Aaron Jones.
Tonight (Thursday, July 28), will see the musical threesome perform at the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool, before moving onto Aros in Portree on July 30, as well as the Tarbert Community Centre, Harris, on Monday, August 1 and Lochmaddy Hall in North Uist on Tuesday, August 2.
In constant demand as a performer, teacher and composer, Alistair has three highly acclaimed solo albums to his name.
From driving traditional tunes and modern day compositions, to the emotive tones of Alistair’s self penned airs and the lyrical songs of critically acclaimed performer, producer and accompanist Aaron Jones, the innovative programme has something for everyone.
Added to that the talents of one of the finest whistle players in Europe, Marc Duff, and all in all the tour is set to present a unique collaboration not to be missed.
