The five ladies who walked 500 miles for the Leanne Fund have raised the staggering sum of £12,072.28.
On July 12th and 13th this year, five ladies completed a 100-mile walk from South Harris to the Butt of Lewis NON-STOP in aid of the charity.
Mina Nicolson, Chrisetta Mitchell, Chrisell MacLeod, Donna Barden and Jimina MacLeod, who are now collectively known as ‘Team Leanne’, completed the challenge in 42 hours. They are now delighted to announce that the staggering sum of £12,072.28 has been raised through this single event, and these five ladies are just so overwhelmed by the kindness and support of so many people.
Team Leanne are pictured handing the cheque over to Robert Mackay, who is a Trustee of The Leanne Fund. A full report will appear in the next issue of the Stornoway Gazette, which will include how this money will be used to help Cystic Fibrosis sufferers in the Highlands and Islands.
