Lewis-born singer Alyth McCormack will launch her stunning new album Homelands in Stornoway on Friday before taking to the stage at the 20th Hebridean Celtic Festival.
The third solo album for Alyth is heavily inspired by her roots on the Isle of Lewis and also Co Wexford in Ireland where she now lives.
Alyth said: “I moved to Ireland seven years ago, I see myself as an Islander, and I always will, as I come from the Hebrides, but I also now love where I live in Ireland. It’s a common thread. We are all travellers, migrants, emigrants, immigrants. Homelands touches on these themes; love and loss, home and emigration’.”
Musicians appearing on Homelands include Aidan O’Rourke, Brian Mcalpine, Ali Smith, Karol Lynch, Joe Csibi and Noel Eccles.
Alyth has sung at some of the best known concert venues in North America and Europe and has become a popular festival favourite. She has travelled the globe and toured and worked with artists such as The Chieftains.
Alyth is performing on the Acoustic Stage at the Hebridean Celtic Festival on Friday night.
