Video - Glimpse the Fury of Abigail

Storm Abigail paid a visit to the Western Isles yesterday evening (Thursday) bringing with it gusting winds of up to 84mph (in some exposed places).

As a precaution all schools across the region are closed today (Friday).

Power supplies had been hit by the Severe Storm force winds and energy supplier SSE reported 2,000 customers had been affected in Lewis and Harris, although most power supplies were restored by this morning.

There is an amber alert on Calmac ferry services, however the operator is currently detailing on its website that there will be a 2pm sailing from Ullapool to Stornoway (check the Calmac website for further updates).
