Stornoway Lifeboat was called to a fishing vessel that was taking water 8 miles South East of Stornoway on Saturday, March 7.
The Lifeboat launched at 16:20. On the arrival of the Lifeboat the crew of three aboard the stricken trawler managed to cut the fishing gear away in poor weather conditions- winds over F9 and 4 metre seas.
The FV’s own pumps were able to cope with the water ingress, and the boat was able to return to Stornoway under her own power, escorted by the Lifeboat, CG Rescue 100 and the FV Carlsbay
The CalMac ferry Isle of Lewis also responded to the mayday, and stood by the casualty until the situation was brought under control.
The casualty was safely alongside in Stornoway harbour by 20:30.
