The islands are enjoying an early bout of summer this week with glorious sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.
The Stornoway Gazette’s weather correspondent Dr Eddie Graham wrote on his blog on Tuesday that the bright and sunny weather was due to last all week.
He said: “There’ll be sharp frosts by night, but that shouldn’t spoil the real touch of spring in the sunshine... it makes all the difference after the dull, dark days of December and January.”
Some thick fog on Tuesday meant visibility of only 100 metres in the North end of Lewis but this soon cleared to reveal a gloriously sunny day.
