SUPERMARKET chain Tescos have generously allowed charity Help for Heroes to run collections days outside 830 stores nationwide on Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2 – but the call is out for volunteers to lend a hand and man the collection tins.

Ross shire and Highlands County Co-ordinators Susan and Peter Somerset are looking to hear from anyone who is willing to help during the nationwide collection. It could be just for an hour, a whole day or even both days.

The couple said: “We would love our community’s support in making this an event to remember and we are asking for both bucket collectors and Store Point of Contact volunteers to join us outside the store to help raise as much as possible to support our wounded heroes.

The volunteering days form part of the Help for Heroes One Hour for Heroes (1H4H) appeal which launched earlier this month, with everyone, from politicians, companies, sportsmen, actors and celebrities to the millions of generous and decent people across the country are giving One Hour.

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out a desire to help wounded Service men and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq and provides direct, practical support to those injured since 9/11.

Anyone interested should contact Susan Somerset, via email susan.somerset@h4hcounty.org.uk or call 07974794496.
