Dun Eisdean care home in Stornoway recently held a fundraising event at the Grianan Day Centre.

The day involved the presentation of wedding dresses, with 34 dresses modelled by ten volunteers, in total there were 39 dresses dating from 1938 until 2013, however five of the dresses could not be worn as they were so fragile, and so were displayed on mannequins and rails provided by M & Co.

Dresses were donated by staff and their relatives, and highlighting our changing body shapes, one dress, which belonged to a resident who was married in 1947 was too small for anybody to fit into, so had to be displayed on a rail.

The event also included afternoon tea, raffles, guess the weight of the duff - this was a particularly popular with standing room only for the results.

MC for the event, David Morrison gave the afternoon a very humorous flavour, as he named the models as they walked the catwalk.

The management, staff and residents of Dun Eisdean want to thank all who attended, gave raffle prizes and helped to make the day so worthwhile.

The marvellous sum of £1,500 was raised for Dun Eisdean Amenities fund.

The photographs of the event were taken by Sandie Maciver who gave of her time so willingly
