THE brand new West side school officially opened this week and welcomed its first intake of pupils.

The school is the fourth of six comprising the £125m Western Isles Schools Project, it is also the latest to be completed on time and budget by Sgoiltean Ùra and FMP on behalf of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and will be maintained by the Facilities Management contractor FES FM Ltd.

Martin Joyce, Head of Operations at Sgoiltean Ùra noted: “We are delighted that the fourth new school has successfully opened.

“With the planned completion of the Nicolson Institute, Stornoway and Daliburgh Primary School in early August 2012, as well as the remainder of the campus at Sir E Scott in Tarbert, the new schools will usher in a new era of educational opportunity for a significant number of children on the islands.”
