A number of wonderful wildlife sightings are being reported as the summer season starts to bring new visitors to the Highlands and Islands.

The warmer seas bring a host of birds, fish and marine mammals in search of food - activity around Loch Broom this week saw a surge in sea birds, numerous porpoise, a large pod of Common Dolphin and a Minke Whale – the first for 2014.

There is news of basking sharks progressing up the west coast and a large pod of Orca coming south from Shetland, exciting nature lovers all around the Highlands and Islands as hopes of a good summer of sightings continues to grow.
