A TWENTY-three year old man was airlifted to Western Isles Hospital on Saturday evening (April 27th) following a fall from cliffs at Traigh Mhor beach, Tolsta, Lewis.

Stornoway Coastguard Station received a 999 call at around 5.40pm on Saturday to say the man had fallen and suffered severe head injuries.

The search and rescue helicopter CG100 was tasked at 5.45pm and successfully airlifted the casualty from the beach and transferred him to Western Isles Hospital.

The young man remains in hospital today (Monday, April 29th) and his condition is reported as being stable.
