CNES's Sport and Health Section organised two 'Fun 4' Football Festivals for Primary School children in Lewis and Harris.
These festivals aimed to enhance children's ability to run, throw, jump and kick the ball and to develop balance and co-ordination.

The 'Fun 4' festivals allow young people the opportunity to enjoy themselves and develop their skills through game
s in a structure that does not conclude with conventional 'winners and losers' at the end of the event.

The Smith Avenue All Weather Pitch was taken over by very excited and enthusiastic Primary 2 and 3s on Thursday May 29 and Primary 4 and 5s on Thursday June 5.

Thanks to the following Lewis schools for taking part in the P 2 and 3 festival - Stornoway Primary, Sandwick, Laxdale, Airidhantuim, Barvas, Lionel, Bragar and Shawbost.

Thanks also to the following Lewis schools for taking part in the P4 and 5 festival - Stornoway Primary, Laxdale, Airidhantuim, Barvas, Lionel, Bragar, Shawbost, Sgoil nan Loch and Back.

Both Festivals featured two and a half hours of non stop action. The skill levels on show were excellent and the future of Lewis football certainly looks promising. All the children were presented with a certificate of attendance and a football book.

It is hoped to make these events an annual fixture. As well as applauding the effort of all the participants, we must thank the Nicolson Pupils, Alistair Dunlop, Euan Macleod, Ali Walker and all the coaches, teachers and parents present, without whom the event would not have been possible.
