OVERALL figures for the majority of sea trout and salmon Fisheries throughout the Outer Hebrides have shown a decrease in catches during 2008.
However, several Fisheries after an extremely slow start had a very good last few weeks (13 angling days) to their salmon/grilse season: Creed 70; Grimersta 51.

The Creed's October catches (all of which were returned) are well above their five-year average of 13 fish!

Scotland's West coast sea trout catches continued there downward spiral with very few fisheries in the Outer Hebrides showing an increase or even coming close to their five year average.

Even the normally reliable South Uist Estate waters recorded half (252) of what was caught in the 2007 season.

Nevertheless, on a more positive note good numbers of sea trout in the 5lb to 9lb-8oz range were reported from Amhuinnsuidhe, North Uist, South Uist and Fideach AC waters, several of which featured in the Catch and Release competition.
