THE Kingdom Stages Rally, held at Crail in Fife, was the final round of the Hytorc Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship, and also the 205 Ecosse Challenge.
The organisers Glenrothes Motor Sport Club had received 105 entries for the 100 places – yet another rally oversubscribed this year, reflecting the buoyancy of the sport in Scotland over the last two seasons.

Alasdair Graham was seeded at car 32, the co-driver's seat on this occasion being occupied by Michelle Falconer – sister of regular co-driver Andrew.

Just two weeks after his Irish trip, the youngster's Escort Mk2 was still on a forest suspension set-up.

Seeded at car 59 was Don Murray with Andy Philip alongside him in the NessRallySport Subaru Impreza – also still set up for forest rallying.

Six all-tarmac stages made up the competitive mileage, the surface of the first two stages in the morning being damp and drivers finding them extremely slippery.
