A double ankle fracture to Robert Macleod of Athletic was the sole talking point after the Lewis and Harris 2008 league season kicked off on Friday evening.
Macleod landed awkwardly with five minutes remaining of Aths' match away to Carloway, in a game his side lost 2-1.

Carloway's Scott Macaulay had earlier been stretchered off the park, believed to have snapped a tendon.

In the other matches, Ness lost 3-1 at home to Back, while United beat Harris 1-0 at Rally Park.

On Saturday night, West Side hosted Point in a match that finished 1-1.

Tonight, (Monday), West Side take on Athletic in Barvas, while league champions Lochs begin their season away to Ness, in the first round of the ABC Cup.

Matches kick-off at 6.30pm.
