THE Lewis footballing fraternity is in mourning today after the death last night (Thursday) of Donald Macleod, better known as 'M'.
Donald played for Athletic in the 60's and 70's and was their representative on the Lewis and Harris Football Association for the last few years.

He probably attended more football matches (senior and junior) than anybody else in the last few years – wherever there was a game on he would find it - whether it was in Tarbert or Eoropie – rain, hail, sleet or snow, Donald was always in attendance.

He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

The sympathy of the football community is extended to his family and close friends.

As a result the United v Ness match at Goathill Park has been postponed tonight (Friday) – no date has been set as to when the match will be played.

The Back v Harris game tonight has been switched to Rally Park, Tarbert, following a bereavement in the Coll area – kick off is at 6.30pm.

The West Side v Lochs game originally scheduled for tonight and then rearranged for next Wednesday will now be played a week tomorrow (Sat 26th) with a 6.30pm kick off.
