SEVEN teams entered this year's Allan Dowie Shield, and the ICTS, who were going for a hat-trick of wins in this tournament, were drawn against the Sea Angling in round one.
Alex Keiller hit seven 100+s in his 2-0 win over Calum Ruddy.

Alex Painter, fresh from his Halloween shenanigans, beat Jamie Reid 2-1 finishing on doubles five and six.

Craig Maclean had a 90 checkout in the first leg of his 2-0 win against
Gordon Maclean.

Andy Dowie made the match score 4-0 with an easy win over Willie Reid, and Willie Lockerby beat Sam 2-0 to keep the Anglers in the match.

The Anglers also won the triples despite Andy Dowie hitting a 180 in the first leg. Jamie Reid hit x2 to win the first doubles and keep the Anglers hopes alive, but it was all over in the last doubles as Sam checked out on x8 to book a semi final for the ICTS. Final score, 5-3.

The Westside beat the reformed Caber team 5-0. David Campbell beat Boozer 2-1, with Boozer getting a 68 finish in the second leg.

Ian O'Donnell checked out on doubles four and eight in his win over Willaky. Gordon Craigie won against Hamish to make the match score 3-0. Ian Mac hit a maximum 180 against Ivor in the first leg but it was not enough as Ivor won 2-1.

John Sleigh won 2-0 against Andy Gress, to book his team in the semi final. The Caley also made the semi's with a brilliant 5-2 win against the Star. Highlight of this game was Scott's 180 in the triples.

Into the semi's and enter the Rangers Club, who had time on their hands to study their opponents, the ICTS, after getting a bye in the last round. The ICTS raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to wins from Alex Keiller, Andy and Sam, despite Alex Painter having a 70 checkout in the first leg Murdo Alex won this one 2-1 to stop the rot. Craig defeated Kenny to make it 4-1 for the ICTS, but things went downhill from here on in as the ICTS somehow lost the triples, both doubles and the 1001 shootout, to crash out of the tournament.

The Westside reached their first final in a number of years, winning 5-1 against the Caley. Finlay hit five 100+'s in his shock 2-0 win over David Campbell, but the Siarach's won the next four singles and the triples to assure them of that final slot.

The Westside won the first game in the final. David Campbell hit x10 twice to beat Griddy 2-1 but that was all they were to get as David Macmillan, Kenny, Murdo Alex and Ian Leitch all won their singles to make it 4-1 for the Gers at the interval.

Keith, David and Ian Leitch won the triples, to ensure that the shield was heading for Inaclete Road for the first time ever! These guys deserve a gold watch each for winning this one!

Defending champions Andy and Haggis will be hoping to do it all again, but the stats show that David and Spike won this in 88/89 and also in 98/99... could they do it in 08/09?

Other names that could go on the trophy are, David Macmillan and Murdo Griddy, and also David Stewart and Dol Norrie. Should be a good day out. Two players won competitions to qualify for February's Masters. In the first one Willie Lockerby beat Babz and Alex Keiller beat his team-mate Alex Painter in the Blind Draw Doubles Final.

There will be another Masters qualifier at around 4.30pm - 5pm just after the Island Doubles this Saturday.

There will also be a darts meeting at 1.30pm for captains and committee members.
