IN their relatively short history, Stornoway Rugby club have probably never faced a season as important as the one they are about to undertake.
Various factors have left the club facing a make or break period. With numbers dwindling on the island, players are harder to come by and the ongoing struggle to get teams to cross the Minch has meant that the Club were very near to calling it a day recently.

But thanks to the efforts of several senior members and the Caledonia Rugby Union, an agreement has been met which means the Island side will be competing in a very strong league this season.

Training has started with a new coaching team of Matt Hunter and Albert Shaw, but because of what lies ahead, possibly a 26 game season, Stornoway are urging anybody that may be interested in playing to come along to the all weather changing rooms at Smith Ave on Wednesday evenings at 6pm.
No matter how old, young, fast, slow experienced or otherwise the Club needs players, so if you think your up for it please feel free to attend!

For more on the training preparations to take on the rigours of the season ahead see this week's Stornoway Gazette out tomorrow.
