BARRA'S annual Heaval Race has been completed this year with the minimum of fuss and the maximum of sunshine.
Competitors of all ages took part in the popular event, which has been running each year for at least 44 years. The race was a close one, with competitors drawing in thick and fast; but they soon earned their reward at the fishermen's mass dance.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Barra Events committee, all winners received impressive trophies to top off the rounds of applause.

For more on the race, including full results see next week's Gazette, out on Thursday July 24.
