Trainers were laced up and stopwatches were primed this week as the latest instalment of Stornoway Running and Athletics Club’s Wacky Races hit the streets of the town.
As always, it was another great race and in no small part thanks to the work of helpers Ross, James and Donnie and of course all the runners themselves who pounded the pavements.
A special mention to Iain Maclean who made his Wacky Races debut with his race handicap based on legitimate race data, coming from his Stornoway 10k time. Top points for first non scratch runner goes to Darcy who ran a 5k personal best of 29:02, just pipping Sydney, who also ran a personal best. Both had run a mile and a half warm up / course reccie just prior to the race and did exceptionally well to keep the pace going.
Also running inside their target times in positions three to five were Seumas, Willie and Alastair.
Garry again just pipped Connor who ran an amazing 16:45 which gave him the evening’s highest age grading of 83 per cent. Next best AGP’s were Howard (79%) then Willlie and Colin (both 73%).
At the other end of the table, Murdo Alex was just out for a steady jog (he carried on for an extra five miles) and Hamish was battered by a very harsh handicap after his very fast run last month.
