The North of Scotland Cup proved bittersweet for the Nicolson Institute this week as the Stornoway school returned from a pair of finals held at the home of Ross County FC with one trophy.

With both their under 15 boys team and their senior boys team in action on the same afternoon the school were dreaming of a double celebration.

But in the end only the under 15s were successful in their bid to bring the silverware back to the Stornoway sideboard.

They beat Ellon Academy 6-3 in the first final of the afternoon before the NI senior team (pictured before their semi-final win over Thurso) were well beaten in the North of Scotland Cup final by Ellon Academy. The Stornoway schoolboys went down 5-1.
