The fifth annual Westside 5K and 10K races will be held this Saturday August 11th.

Registration for both races will take place on the day in the Shawbost Old School Community Centre from 9.30 to 10.40 am with both races due to start at 11am.

Car parking for competitors will be available in the Shawbost School car park.

Soup sandwiches, teas and coffees will be served prior to the prize giving presentation. As well as the overall and age category prizes all finishers in both events receive a medal.

Race results and photo albums from previous years are available on the website www.westsiderunners.co.uk.

Should you be a running novice and feel that the 10K (6.2 miles) distance is too far at this point why not attempt the 5K (3.1 miles) which is also a recognised race distance which allows you to set a goal time to take forward to future races. Runners, joggers and walkers are welcome in both events.

Over the years the runs have developed into a real community event with the Westside Runners being ably supported by the Westside Duke of Edinburgh group for marshalling, water stops plus timekeeping and Comman Eachdraidh an Taobh Siar (West Side Historical Society) who provide the soup and sandwiches which are enjoyed by all who attend.
