BREAKTHROUGH Breast Cancer is urging fitness fanatics and novices alike to lace up their trainers and don their sports vest this January, to make 2011 their fittest yet!

With the inevitable over indulgence of Christmas well under way, January is the prefect time to start thinking about burning off those Christmas calories and raising money for a great cause in the process.

There are all sorts of opportunities to get fit and raise money for Breakthrough’s life saving research, from Fun Runs to marathons, no event is too small and the Breakthrough Running Club is there to support you every step of the way.

And all funds raised go straight towards the charity’s research, campaigning and education work, helping to establish a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

Emma Cornish, Events Fundraising Executive for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, says: “2011 is the year to get fit and join in the fight against breast cancer.

“There are lots of great sporting events which anyone can take part in – you don’t have to be a professional athlete to join in, all you need is determination and dedication and we’ll help with the rest.”

“What better New Year’s resolution is there than to get fit AND help fund vital research which could make all the difference for the 46,000 women and 300 men who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.”

In the first few months of 2011, Breakthrough have secured charity places on a number of major marathons and sporting events around the UK and for more information on how to get involved visit www.breakthrough.org.uk/running or contact the running team on running@breakthrough.org.uk or call 020 7025 2422.
